Service Terms & Conditions

The terms you accept when you start a repair, approve an estimate, or place an order. The version you accepted is recorded on your ticket or order.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By submitting equipment for inspection or repair, approving a service estimate, placing an order, or purchasing products through Production Bench ("we," "us," or "our"), you ("Customer") agree to these Service Terms & Conditions.

These Terms apply to all services and products provided by Production Bench, including audio cable repair, connector replacement, soldering, cable fabrication, custom assemblies, equipment inspection, testing, and merchandise sales.

Any additional written terms expressly agreed upon for a particular project will supplement these Terms. In the event of a conflict, the specifically agreed project terms will control, except where prohibited by law.

2. Equipment Intake and Documentation

All equipment submitted for service is subject to an intake inspection.

At intake, Production Bench may record:

  • Equipment type, manufacturer, model, and serial number, when applicable.
  • Customer-reported problems and requested services.
  • Visible cosmetic and physical condition.
  • Photographs of connectors, cables, enclosures, and existing damage.
  • Accessories or components received with the equipment.
  • Initial functional or continuity test results, where appropriate.

These records establish the documented condition of the equipment at intake but do not conclusively determine the cause, timing, or responsibility for any damage.

Customers must disclose known faults, prior repairs, modifications, liquid exposure, or other conditions that may affect safe handling.

Customers represent that they own the equipment or are authorized by its owner to request service.

3. Diagnostic Services and Fees

Diagnostic services may include visual inspection, continuity testing, signal verification, fault isolation, and other procedures reasonably necessary to identify a problem.

Any diagnostic fee will be disclosed in writing and separately authorized before diagnostic work begins.

Unless otherwise specified in the accepted service order:

  • An applicable diagnostic fee is credited toward the approved repair.
  • If the Customer declines the repair, the disclosed diagnostic fee remains payable.
  • If equipment is determined to be beyond economical repair, the diagnostic fee remains payable for diagnostic work performed.
  • No additional diagnostic charges will be incurred without the Customer's authorization.

Diagnostic fees are nonrefundable once the authorized diagnostic services have been performed, except where required by law or where the fee was charged in error.

An initial inspection does not guarantee that every defect, intermittent fault, or underlying condition will be discovered.

4. Estimates and Authorization

Production Bench will provide a written estimate describing the proposed repair, anticipated parts, labor charges, and other applicable service charges before billable repair work begins.

No billable repair work will begin without Customer authorization of the estimate.

Each estimate is assigned a unique identifier or version.

If additional work becomes necessary or the estimated price changes, Production Bench will provide a revised estimate and obtain the Customer's approval before performing or charging for the additional work.

Approval may be provided through an authorized electronic acceptance method or another legally permitted means of documented authorization.

The Customer is responsible only for charges properly disclosed and authorized, together with applicable taxes and other lawful charges.

Estimates may be subject to availability of replacement components and may have an expiration date stated on the estimate.

5. Repair Procedures and Limitations

Production Bench performs services using repair methods and materials appropriate to the specific work being authorized.

Depending on the service, work may include:

  • Cable inspection, repair, and re-termination.
  • Replacement of compatible connectors.
  • Solder joint restoration.
  • Wiring configuration verification.
  • Continuity, polarity, and signal-path testing.
  • Fabrication of custom cables and assemblies.

Where practicable, completed work is tested before release.

A successful bench test confirms only the conditions evaluated during that test. It does not establish that the equipment is free from every defect or will remain functional indefinitely.

Production Bench may recommend replacement rather than repair when equipment is significantly damaged, unsafe, or uneconomical to restore.

6. Prohibited and Restricted Equipment

For safety reasons, Production Bench does not accept services involving:

  • AC mains power wiring or direct mains-voltage repairs.
  • High-power amplifier output circuits.
  • Swollen, punctured, leaking, or otherwise damaged batteries.
  • Medical equipment.
  • Emergency, life-safety, or critical protection systems.
  • Equipment presenting an unreasonable electrical, chemical, fire, or physical hazard.

Production Bench may refuse or discontinue service when inspection reveals an unsafe condition, unsuitable construction, or a repair outside its technical capabilities.

If an unsafe condition is discovered after intake, the Customer will be informed and the equipment will be handled or returned according to applicable safety requirements.

Production Bench will not knowingly return equipment in a manner that creates an unreasonable safety hazard.

7. Existing Damage and Repair Risks

Certain repairs require opening enclosures, removing connectors, desoldering components, cutting damaged cable sections, or disturbing previously installed materials.

The Customer acknowledges that existing corrosion, brittle insulation, deteriorated materials, prior modifications, or hidden defects may complicate a repair.

Production Bench will exercise reasonable care when handling Customer equipment.

If work reveals a condition requiring a material change to the approved repair, Production Bench will stop the affected work and request additional authorization.

Production Bench is responsible for damage caused by its failure to exercise legally required care. Nothing in these Terms releases Production Bench from liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

8. Replacement Parts and Customer Materials

Replacement components may be original, aftermarket, or functionally compatible parts, as disclosed when relevant to the estimate.

Production Bench may decline to install Customer-supplied components that are unsuitable, defective, counterfeit, unsafe, or incompatible.

When Customer-supplied materials are accepted, the Customer remains responsible for defects inherent in those materials. Production Bench remains responsible for the workmanship of the services it performs.

Removed components will be returned upon request when reasonably practicable, unless they present a safety hazard, are subject to an applicable exchange arrangement, or the Customer authorizes disposal.

9. Custom Cable Fabrication

Custom cable orders are manufactured according to the approved specifications, including, where applicable:

  • Cable type and construction.
  • Connector brand and configuration.
  • Finished length.
  • Wiring and pinout.
  • Labeling, color, and identification.
  • Quantity and other requested modifications.

The Customer is responsible for reviewing and approving the specifications before fabrication.

Once production begins, custom orders generally cannot be canceled or modified without Production Bench's consent.

Custom-fabricated products are not eligible for returns solely because the Customer changes their mind or selected the wrong specifications.

This restriction does not affect remedies for defective goods, incorrect fulfillment, or other rights available under applicable law.

10. Completion, Payment, and Release

Customers will be notified when equipment is ready for pickup, shipment, or another agreed delivery arrangement.

Payment is due according to the approved estimate, invoice, or written account agreement.

Equipment may be released when:

  • The invoice has been paid in full.
  • A valid purchase order has been accepted by Production Bench.
  • Approved invoicing or net-payment terms apply.
  • Production Bench expressly authorizes release.

Acceptance of a purchase order does not automatically establish credit terms unless Production Bench agrees to those terms.

Production Bench may retain possession of repaired equipment for unpaid authorized service charges to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Ownership of Customer-supplied equipment remains with the Customer.

11. Unclaimed Equipment and Storage

Customers are expected to arrange retrieval or authorized return shipment promptly after receiving notice that equipment is ready.

Production Bench will make reasonable efforts to contact the Customer using the contact information provided at intake.

Equipment remaining uncollected for 60 calendar days after the initial ready-for-pickup notification may be classified as unclaimed for administrative purposes.

Production Bench will attempt at least three reminders before considering further action.

The passage of 60 days does not automatically transfer ownership to Production Bench or authorize disposal.

Any storage charges, lien enforcement, sale, recycling, or disposal will occur only when authorized by applicable law and after any legally required notices, waiting periods, or other procedures have been satisfied.

Customers remain responsible for properly authorized outstanding charges, subject to applicable law.

12. Repair Workmanship Warranty

Production Bench provides a limited 30-day workmanship warranty on completed cable repairs, connector installations, and cable re-terminations, beginning on the date the repaired item is delivered or made available to the Customer.

If a covered repair fails because of defective workmanship during the warranty period, Production Bench will inspect and correct the affected workmanship without additional labor charges.

This warranty does not cover:

  • New physical damage or misuse after release.
  • Damage caused by improper connection, excessive force, or environmental exposure.
  • Unauthorized modifications or subsequent repairs by another party.
  • Failures unrelated to the work originally performed.
  • Pre-existing faults outside the authorized repair scope.
  • Normal wear and tear.

A warranty claim may require reasonable inspection and testing to establish whether the reported failure is covered.

This limited warranty supplements, and does not replace or diminish, any non-waivable statutory warranty rights.

13. Product Defects, Returns, and Exchanges

Standard, non-custom merchandise may be returned according to the return policy displayed at the time of purchase, together with applicable law.

Custom-manufactured cables and personalized products are not returnable for change of mind after production has begun, except where Production Bench expressly agrees otherwise.

If a product arrives damaged, defective, or materially different from the approved order, the Customer should notify Production Bench promptly and provide the order number, a description of the issue, and photographs where reasonably available.

Production Bench will evaluate the claim and provide an appropriate remedy, which may include repair, replacement, reprint, or refund, as required by applicable law or the applicable product warranty.

14. Print-on-Demand Merchandise

Certain merchandise is produced and fulfilled by third-party print-on-demand providers, including Printify.

Because these products are manufactured to order, returns for change of mind, incorrect customer-selected size, or incorrect customer-selected color are generally not accepted.

Customers should report print defects, manufacturing errors, or shipping damage within 30 calendar days of delivery, with supporting photographs where reasonably available.

Production Bench will review the issue and coordinate an eligible replacement or refund.

Third-party production policies may inform claim evaluation but do not eliminate any statutory rights the Customer has against Production Bench.

15. Shipping and Transportation

When shipping services are offered, the Customer is responsible for providing accurate delivery information and properly packaging equipment shipped to Production Bench.

Any outbound shipping costs, return shipping charges, insurance options, and handling charges will be disclosed before the Customer authorizes them.

Risk of loss during shipment will be allocated according to applicable law and the agreed delivery terms.

Production Bench is not responsible for shipping delays outside its reasonable control but will assist Customers in resolving documented shipping problems involving shipments it arranged.

16. Turnaround Times

Estimated completion dates are provided for planning purposes and are not guaranteed unless expressly agreed in writing.

Completion times may vary due to:

  • Repair complexity.
  • Parts availability.
  • Unanticipated equipment conditions.
  • Customer approval delays.
  • Shipping disruptions.
  • Workload and other circumstances outside reasonable control.

Production Bench will communicate material delays when reasonably practicable.

17. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Production Bench will not be liable for speculative or unforeseeable consequential losses, including lost business opportunities, lost production revenue, or downtime resulting from a service delay or equipment failure.

For ordinary contract claims relating to a specific service, Production Bench's aggregate liability will be limited to the greater of the amount paid for the affected service or $500, to the extent such limitation is enforceable.

This limitation does not apply to fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, personal injury, damage to Customer property caused by negligence where such limitation is prohibited, or any liability that applicable law does not permit to be limited.

Nothing in these Terms prevents a Customer from exercising legally protected consumer remedies.

18. No Guarantee of Equipment Performance

Unless expressly included in the approved scope of work, Production Bench does not guarantee that a repair will restore equipment to original manufacturer specifications or eliminate faults unrelated to the serviced components.

Any express workmanship warranty is limited to its stated coverage.

All other warranties are subject to applicable law, and nothing in these Terms excludes implied warranties or other protections that cannot legally be disclaimed.

19. Customer Communication and Electronic Records

Production Bench may communicate regarding service orders through email, telephone, or approved customer account systems.

Customers are responsible for providing accurate contact information.

Electronic records may include estimates, approvals, invoices, service documentation, photographs, testing records, and delivery notifications.

Production Bench may retain these records for legitimate business, warranty, accounting, dispute resolution, and legal compliance purposes in accordance with its applicable Privacy Policy.

20. Cancellation and Refusal of Service

Customers may cancel unperformed repair work by providing notice to Production Bench.

Charges for diagnostic services or authorized work already performed remain payable, as permitted by law.

Production Bench may decline or terminate a service order for safety concerns, lack of suitable replacement parts, unsupported equipment, abusive conduct, or other legitimate operational reasons.

When service is discontinued, Production Bench will provide an accounting of properly authorized charges and make reasonable arrangements for the return of Customer property.

21. Disputes and Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protection laws that may apply.

Customers should contact Production Bench first to report a concern and allow an opportunity to investigate and resolve the issue.

Nothing in these Terms requires a Customer to waive access to a court, regulatory authority, or statutory remedy.

22. Changes to These Terms

Production Bench may update these Terms periodically.

The version accepted at the time of a service authorization or purchase will generally govern that transaction, unless the parties expressly agree otherwise or a change is required by law.

Updated terms will not retroactively increase charges or materially reduce existing Customer rights without a lawful basis and any required consent.

23. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain effective to the extent permitted by law.

24. Contact and Business Information

Support and service contact information will be provided in the customer order confirmation and on the website.

25. Customer Acknowledgment

By accepting these Terms and separately authorizing a diagnostic service, repair estimate, or purchase, the Customer confirms that they have had an opportunity to review the applicable service description, disclosed charges, and conditions.

Acceptance of these Terms alone does not authorize unspecified repairs or additional charges.
